PROPOSED ANNUAL BUDGET

The City of Manor City Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed FY 2019-2020 Proposed Annual Budget.  The public hearing will be held in the City of Manor Council Chamber, 105 E. Eggleston Street, Manor, Texas at 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 18, 2019.  The purpose of this meeting is to allow citizens the opportunity to comment on the proposed budget.  Members of the public are encouraged to attend the hearing and express their views.

 

This Proposed Budget will raise $1,653,018 (27.41%) more property tax revenues than last year's budget.  These additional revenues include $688,328.83 generated from new property added to this year's tax roll.

 

A printed copy of the detailed summary of the FY 2019-2020 Proposed Annual Budget is available to the public at the main customer service window in the lobby of City Hall.  Electronic copies are available for viewing or download on the City's website, at www.cityofmanor.org.

The City of Manor City Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed FY 2019-2020 Proposed Annual Budget.  The public hearing will be held in the City of Manor Council Chamber, 105 E. Eggleston Street, Manor, Texas at 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 4, 2019.  The purpose of this meeting is to allow citizens the opportunity to comment on the proposed budget.  Members of the public are encouraged to attend the hearing and express their views.

 

This Proposed Budget will raise $1,653,018 (27.41%) more property tax revenues than last year's budget.  These additional revenues include $688,328.83 generated from new property added to this year's tax roll.

On Tax Increase

 

The City of Manor, Texas will hold two public hearings on a proposal to increase total tax revenues from properties on the tax roll in the preceding tax year by 27.41%. Your individual taxes may increase at a greater or lesser rate, or even decrease, depending on the change in the taxable value of your property in relation to the change in taxable value of all other property and the tax rate that is adopted.

 

The first public hearing will be held on September 4, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Manor City Council Chamber, 105 E. Eggleston Street.

 

The second public hearing will be held on September 18, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the Manor City Council Chamber, 105 E. Eggleston Street.

 

 

The members of the governing body voted on the proposal to consider the tax increase as follow:

 

FOR:   Anne Weir, Marie Amezcua, Deja Hill, Gil Burrell, Valerie Dye, and Rita Jonse

 

AGAINST:  None

 

PRESENT and not voting:  None

 

ABSENT:  None

 

The average taxable value of a residence homestead in Manor, Texas last year was $174,959. Based on last year's tax rate of $0.7522 per $100 of taxable value, the amount of taxes imposed last year on the average home was $1,316.09.

 

The average taxable value of a residence homestead in Manor, Texas this year is $189,980. If the governing body adopts the effective tax rate for this year of $0.8161 per $100 of taxable value, the amount of taxes imposed this year on the average home would be $1,550.49.

 

If the governing body adopts the proposed tax rate of $0.8161 per $100 of taxable value, the amount of taxes imposed this year on the average home would be $1,550.49.
